Africa Creative, a Brazilian agency, launched a campaign to raise awareness of the dangerous, often fatal, kidney diseases that disproportionately afflict trans women in Brazil. Due to the prevalent violence against the trans community, many members conceal their genitals to avoid being targeted, leading to the use of damaging practices such as tape and superglue. The campaign showcased Truccs, a lingerie brand specially designed for the trans community, as a healthier and safer alternative to conceal the genital area.
Dr. Thiago Caetano, a urologist specializing in gender reassignment and who supported the project, advocates for Truccs as a solution to urinary problems and infections. Africa also launched a legislative bill proposing the free distribution of Truccs through the Unified Health System to improve accessibility and reduce fatalities related to kidney disease. The campaign received support from thousands of influencers and shocked a conservative audience with its sensitive content.
